You've Got A Trend In Me

Summer is (almost) officially here.

The next few months are just made for iced coffee, picky-bit-teas, barbecues, tinnies in the park, half-melted Mr Whippys, and those all-important post-work spritzes on a harbourside terrace. Whether you’re heading out of your too-hot Montpellier flat, avoiding dining al desko, or just sick of getting the hoover out after another BLW mealtime fiasco, nothing makes beating the heat better than a picnic*.

But what are we packing in our baskets? 2026 is here and it’s calling for something a little more chic than a soggy ham sandwich and half a tin of stale biscuits.

Here’s the Guild Of Dough run-down of how to keep your mouth totally à la mode this summer.

It’s Just Beach

Enter your Ken era by going coastal. We’re not talking seagulls, chips, and whelks (seriously, ew) - this year it’s all about the island paradise. Think pina coladas and fruit hats, golden sunsets and tiki bars. Head to Lonely Mouth on Gloucester Road for one of their Mango Sticky Rice iced matchas, or, if you’re looking for more than tea, you can’t go wrong with a frozen Solero margarita from Clifton’s Bar 44. Need a morning-after breakfast? Kaya toast will set you straight - top slices of Guild Of Dough farmhouse with unreasonable amounts of butter, then finish with caramelised coconut spread for a little island sunrise in your own kitchen.

Top That

Remember charcuterie boards? The latest trend takes away that boring tasteless plank of wood, and replaces it with delicious crisps. Top salt and black pepper kettle chips with mozzarella, sun dried tomatoes, olive oil, and basil for a new take on a Caprese salad. Feeling more urbane? Try bagel thins loaded with dill pickles, grated Emmental, and shredded pastrami, then finish with spoonfuls of mustard mayo. Yes, it’s messy and they’ll go a bit soggy - but that’s all part of the joy.

It’s Getting Hot In Here

Whether it’s adding Tajin to the rim of a margarita, dipping mini poppadoms into a spicy mango chutney, or drizzling hot honey over fresh pineapple, fruit’s newest best friend is chilli, and they’re being seen everywhere together this summer. For a work-appropriate alternative to a spicy marg, we’re loving the Zesty Lime soda from Picoso. Feeling peckish? Knock up a quick Coronation chicken and pile it onto slices of Guild Of Dough sourdough.

Retro? Sure.

Delicious? Always.

Fibremaxxing

With cabbage having been declared the ‘it’ vegetable of 2026 by Vogue itself, fibre is still the dietary buzzword of the year. Sure, you could go to town on a whole raw head of sweetheart like some kind of sentient lawnmower - or you could pick up a loaf of Guild Of Dough kimchi sourdough. Packed with prebiotics and loaded with fibre, it’s zingy, light, and just perfect for your morning avocado toast. Thirsty? Pair it with a can of Fibe - it’s woman-founded, contains 5g of fibre per can, and it’s divine.

Going Bananas For - Well, Bananas

Banana pudding. It’s everywhere.

*even if it’s just a meal deal on a suspiciously sticky bench.
